With respect to the ITF Seniors circuit there will be a resumption of play week commencing 31 August 2020 although in reality many of the events have been cancelled. All of the planned 2020 Senior World Championships have been cancelled. There are also some interesting developments planned for 2021 with the introduction of new 30+ and 90+ age categories - it would appear that a ‘senior’ is getting younger and 90 is the new 80!

Regarding our SLTC of GB fixtures Sept-Dec, the match managers have been liaising with our opponents and an update (at the time of writing) can be seen on the Fixture List. We resume our matches against the All England Club on 2nd Sept with some restrictions in place. A ladies match against The Hurlingham Club is also planned to take place on 11th Sept. It is questionable whether our two remaining International fixtures will go ahead (Fitzwilliam and Dutch). The UK Armed Forces and Army Masters matches will be played unless there is a change in Covid-19 ‘circumstances’ - if any men would be available to play in either or both of these then please contact the match manager Phil Tovey.
The Seniors’ Lawn Tennis Club would like to recognise the great contribution to tennis made by Angela Buxton (d. 14th - 85) and David Mercer (d. 26th - 70), who sadly both passed away in August. We would encourage members to look up the respective biographies, which are quite different but make interesting reading.
