Mixed team win at St. Albans 4-0

We sent a strong mixed team to St. Albans for this new fixture. Although the result may look comfortable the match was very competitive and payed in great spirit. The home club were wonderful hosts on the day and we are sure this will become a regular fixture in our match calendar.

Condolences - Gordon William Pinhey

The Club is saddened to learn of the death on the 20th March 2026 of Gordon Pinhey, aged 91 and a member since January 1984. We send our sincere condolences to Gordon's family and friends at this sad time.

AGM & Annual Dinner 2026

27 Members attended our 67th AGM held at the Richmond Golf Club on Monday 2nd March - a copy of the Minutes appropriate to the meeting is now available in the member area of our website.
The AGM was followed by our Chair & Members' Annual Dinner where 45 members and guests enjoyed a delightful carvery-style meal in congenial circumstances. A key part of the evening involved our guest speaker and former British No. 2 Jamie Baker being skilfully questioned by our Chair, Anne Clark. Jamie is Head of Professional Tennis and tournament Director at the AELTC.

Ladies win at Taunton 5-3 (sets)

Our women started their 2026 campaign with a great win against a competitive Taunton team. Due to a last-minute change we only travelled with 2 pairs but nevertheless managed to prevail 5-3 on sets. Excellent indoor courts and hospitality from the Taunton Club and thank you to all the players involved.

Our 2026 Fixture List is now available to view from both the Home Page and the Member Area and we encourage all our playing members to see what matches they would like to be considered for and to contact the allocated match manager. If you are in any doubt about playing standards, age requirements or have a general enquiry about a match then please contact Celia Gregory/Susie Reid (women) or Chris Gotla (men) who will advise. 2026 (67th) AGM - change to Guest Speaker

We are thrilled to confirm that Jamie Baker will now be our guest speaker.

Jamie, from Glasgow, is a former British No. 2, a member of our Davis Cup team and won many titles both home and abroad. After retiring from tennis in 2013, Jamie moved into Corporate Finance and the media. In 2018 he joined Wimbledon as the Head of Tennis Relations moving on to his current role as Head of Professional Tennis and Tournament Director.

The schedule for Monday evening will be different to normal, with Anne introducing Jamie and conducting a Q&A before dinner, starting at 7:15pm and with dinner at around 8pm.

Paris Jean Bouin - August 2026

We are pleased to announce that our much-anticipated return match against PARIS JEAN BOUIN has been scheduled for the weekend of 28-30 August 2026 in Paris.
The matches will be held on the prestigious VIP courts of Roland Garros, which are renowned clay courts used by professional players for practice during tournaments.

Scottish Seniors Open Indoor - Glasgow (2-8 Feb, Scotstoun)

There was definitely an international flavour this year with many European players taking part and winning events. However, congratulations to Boyd Brackstone who took the MS75 title by beating fellow Club member Rennie Johnston in the final. Boyd then teamed-up with regular doubles partner Jasper Cooper to win the MD70 title. Recognition too for Mike Harpin & Andrew Hutchinson (MD55), Hazel Middleton (WD55) and Sally Walker (WD65) who reached finals.

Condolences - Anne Straker

It is with great sadness that we learnt of the death last week of Anne Straker, wife of former Committee Member and Club stalwart David Straker who passed away in 2021. Anne was an enthusiastic supporter and regular attendee at Club functions and events over the years, especially with David. She will be fondly and respectfully remembered by all who knew.
Our sincere condolences go to Heather, Richard and their families.
