2022 - a better year ahead?

Main Image

December and it’s time to reflect on the year and start to plan and look forward to 2022.

Although there were a few cancellations we were excited to have arranged and played a number of matches. Thanks go to all of our match managers and congratulations to the teams. Always very competitive, as at end of November the SLTC had won 8 of their matches (I have pleasure in noting that 6 of these were won by our ladies teams), drawn 3 and lost 4.

During 2021 Valerie Willoughby and Stuart Smith were welcomed as Honorary Members of the SLTC of GB. Congratulations to the two of them who have made significant contributions to tennis.

We have an exciting schedule lined up for 2022 with many matches including international fixtures against teams from Norway, Holland and the United States. The match managers welcome expressions of interest in playing in matches - do check the Fixture List, which will be put on our website early in the New Year.

The AGM and annual dinner with guest speaker for the SLTC of GB is being held (COVID19 permitting) on Monday 14 March 2022 at the Wimbledon Park Golf Club House. A date to mark in your diaries.

My personal thanks go to all of the hard working SLTC of GB Committee. As all involved with the various voluntary activities at tennis clubs, in your County and National Associations, schools, further education etc. know it’s only with the efforts behind the scenes that helps things run smoothly.

And here’s a joke to use with your Christmas crackers..........

“Knock, knock.....
Who’s there?
Tennis
Tennis who?
Tennis my favourite number.....”

On behalf of the SLTC of GB I would like to wish you and your families a very peaceful, happy and safe Christmas as we look forward to a fun and tennis-packed 2022.

Best wishes,
Anne (Chair, SLTC of GB)
